We are proud of our rich local heritage in Wellington. Tom Edwards was a builder and undertaker, based in King Street, from around 1885. Tom’s sons, William and Harry, continued the business after their father died, but when William took charge of Wellington’s fire brigade, Harry was left to run and develop the funeral business, along with his three sons: Tom, Frank and Harry. The family eventually sold the business in 1972.
Today, the Harry Edwards & Sons name proudly continues. We are a family-run, independent business, which constantly strives to maintain the highest standards and level of care. Our Funeral Home was completely refurbished in 2011 and now boasts immaculate Chapels of Rest and office facilities. We are members of the National Association of Funeral Directors and were inspected by IFSO (Independent Funeral Standards Organisation) in 2023, during which we were delighted to be found compliant in all areas.
We believe that Tom, Harry and his sons, would be pleased with the family focused professionalism shown by our team, who ensure that you receive the very best advice and guidance when you need it the most. If given the privilege to act on your behalf, we will help you to create a service befitting of your loved one, and on the day, our experienced Funeral Directors will gently guide you through the funeral, with an assurance that only comes with years of dedication and service.
